Dawn King

Dip. London College of Dance & Drama, RAD Registered Teacher and life member, BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy.

Having trained full-time at LCDD and taught in this country and abroad, Dawn and husband Jeremy moved to Italy to teach at Centro Internazionale di Danza in Cosenza.

On return to UK they started Gedling Ballet School at the community centre on Shearing Hill in 1985, transferring to its present home at the Memorial Hall in 1986.

Both of their daughters, Sarah and Susie, progressed from Gedling Ballet School to train full-time at the Royal Ballet School (White Lodge) and at Elmhurst Assoc. School of Birmingham Royal Ballet.

Alongside a passion for dance and teaching at Gedling Ballet School, Dawn trained at Nottingham University as a Physiotherapist and worked within the NHS for a number of years.

Dawn attends training events held by the RAD and Royal Ballet School. A former member of the RAD committee for the Midlands and East of England region and awarded life membership of the RAD in 2020 after 42 years of membership.

Former pupil of Gedling Ballet School, Lauren holds a BTEC National Diploma in Dance from New College Nottingham and a BA (Hons) in Dance and Professional Practice from Coventry University, where she was awarded a Performance Scholarship. She also holds an MA in Arts Management from Birmingham Institute of Art and Design.

A qualified and registered teacher with the RAD and IDTA, Lauren is also a certified teacher of the Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) Adult Syllabus. She has extensive teaching experience across Nottingham, delivering dance classes in a variety of settings including nurseries and pre-schools, primary schools, extracurricular dance schools and gymnastics clubs.

For over a decade, Lauren and former Gedling Ballet School teacher Brooke Bathgate have run seasonal school holiday clubs at Epperstone Village Hall, delivering fun and engaging dance workshop days for primary school-aged children.

Lauren currently teaches all Stage classes, as well as a midweek Pre-School Ballet class, at Gedling Ballet School.

Former pupil of Gedling Ballet School, Amy is a ballet teacher, choreographer and dance educator who holds the Royal Ballet School Diploma of Dance Teaching, reflecting her commitment to delivering the highest standards of classical ballet coaching. She trained at Rambert School, graduating with a BA (Hons), before completing a Master's Degree with Distinction in Contemporary Dance at London Contemporary Dance School.

Amy has coached ballet at leading organisations including The Royal Ballet School, Rambert School, Ballet Boost, Studio 79, and Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) schemes, working with dancers of all ages, from recreational students to those preparing for vocational training.

Amy is the founder of Studio Grace Pre-Vocational Ballet Coaching, which holds workshops and masterclasses in Nottingham, designed to complement the training dancers already receive within their local dance school, providing focused small-group coaching in classical technique, conditioning, artistry, and performance quality.

Alongside her work in ballet, Amy is also active in the figure skating world as Ballet Coach for Team GB figure skaters and synchronised skating teams at the National Ice Centre, where she develops athletes' classical technique, artistry and performance quality. She has also worked as Ballet Coach for the International Skating Union (ISU), coaching elite athletes from around the world.

Amy was Rehearsal Director for London Children's Ballet in 2025 and 2026, staging productions at London's Peacock Theatre alongside Kristen McNally (Principal Character Artist, The Royal Ballet) and Jenna Lee (former English National Ballet). She continues to support the development of young dancers through rehearsals, outreach and performance opportunities.

Amy is passionate about developing technically strong, artistic and versatile dancers, tailoring her teaching to support every student in achieving their individual goals.

A former pupil of Gedling Ballet School, Central School of Ballet graduate, performing career includes Michael Clark Company UK and international touring, as well as The Snowman in London West End and on tour, Merce Cunningham Trust performing in UK and Italy, and most recently performing with Eliot Smith Dance (ESD) in Newcastle. Rowan travelled with ESD to New York to rehearse a piece called ‘Duet’ with the Paul Taylor Dance Company which she is now performing with ESD here in the UK.

Qualifications gained; BA (Hons) in Dance and Professional Performance through Central School of Ballet and University of Kent. Rowan has achieved the bbodance Diploma in Dance Teaching Practice with a distinction, gaining RAD registered teacher status.

Rowan teaches throughout Nottingham for a range of ages, mainly in Classical Ballet and Contemporary styles and also for the Syncronised Skating team at the Nottingham Ice Arena.

A former Gedling Ballet School student, Hannah is a dance teacher, dance artist, choreographer, and producer. She graduated with First Class Honours in Contemporary Dance from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Before that, she trained with Dance4’s Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) and began her dance journey at Gedling Ballet School.

Hannah teaches weekly dance classes for people of all ages and abilities and also supports young people and children with Special Educational Needs. She previously taught early years through Little Movers, a creative movement programme for children aged 0–5 and their families, introducing new themes each week to inspire movement, imagination, and creativity. Her teaching focuses on creativity, confidence, and inclusion, creating welcoming spaces where everyone can explore movement and expression.

Hannah has choreographed award-winning dance pieces and been recognised for her creative work, receiving the Young Creative Award in both 2023 and 2024 for her choreography and performances, including the duet Holding On To It (2023) and the solo Daydreaming (2024). She has also performed works by choreographers including Sarah Golding, Claire Baker, and Matthew Harding.

Alongside her teaching and performance work, Hannah is the Community Producer for SO Festival, creating and delivering accessible arts experiences for local audiences.

She continues to develop her own practice as a freelance dance artist, facilitating workshops at festivals, schools, and community events with organisations including FABRIC, Inspire Youth Arts, Vehdance and Movement, and has also worked with Tom Dale Company, Serendipity, and others in different freelance capacities.

Hannah’s practice centres on community engagement, collaboration, and movement as a tool for connection and expression.

Former pupil of Gedling Ballet School, performed with Birmingham Royal Ballet in a number of productions notably as young Morgan le Fay in the Ballet 'Arthur' at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and on UK tour with BRB.

A Royal Ballet Associate student Susie at age 14 accepted a scholarship place at Elmhurst Assoc. School of Birmingham Royal Ballet, and then completed her training at Rambert School of Ballet & Contemporary Dance, BA (Hons) followed by Rambert MA.

Professional work includes Ballet Theatre UK, Ampersandance, Royal Shakespeare Company and Medea with English National Opera at the London Coliseum.

Former ballet coach at the National Ice Arena and dance teacher at NCN, Susie is based in London and teaches for London School of Arts and at her own school Hackney Ballet.

Susie is a qualified and registered teacher with the RAD and BBO Dance, and is a member of the new Rambert Grades training programme (Rambert Grades is accredited by The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulations Ofqual).

Trained London School of Contemporary Dance. Former member of Lynx Dance Company and English Bach Festival Company.

Taught at Centro Internazionale di Danza Italy, and various schools and colleges in the UK including Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Former company manger and choreographer for Nottingham Youth Dance in association with New English Contemporary Ballet.

In addition to teaching, Jeremy is the administrator for Gedling Ballet School and also percussionist for contemporary classes.

Former GBS student and Royal Ballet School Associate, a graduate of London Studio Centre now freelance dancer and teacher. Recent professional performances include Royal Opera House in autumn 2025 in Sicilian Vespers.
